I remember her taking all the pain, with no complaints, because she didn't want us to be the recipients of his brutality. Meanwhile, we would be cowering in the corner of our dingy one-room house, holding on to each other, with tears of helplessness streaming down our faces. We would go days without food.There would be nights when we washed empty vessels, as hunger burnt our stomachs. The only thing we could do was console each other and hope to somehow manage a morsel of food the next day. In such dismal conditions, I could never even dream of becoming a doctor. But God had different plans for me, and it was at Zaina’s Home, my ambitions began to take shape. I was only 6 years old when I first came to Zaina’s Home, with nothing but a pair of clothes. Ever since, I was raised with utmost care and affection. After learning about my desire to become a doctor, Azam sir helped guide me through the Medical courses and how to prepare for exams. With unfaltering support from many, and God’s grace, today I have completed my MBBS in Obstetrics & Gynecology from Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College. I chose to become a Gynaecologist because women from my community are culturally uneasy about visiting male doctors for women’s needs. I want to make a change and make sure they’re comfortable because women's health is really overlooked. I want to help poor women who can’t afford medical care.
